I used to be such an over-packer, but learned to plan my outfits pretty strategically so I can pack lightly - otherwise I confuse myself with too many options. This past weekend I had an overnight bachelorette party to attend in NYC. Since we were driving into the city we didn't have to travel light, but I still like to. We spent just two days and one night in the big apple, but squeezed in a lot to do!
Sticking with the bride-to-be's Disney theme, we started the day with Frozen on Broadway (so cute, BTW). Then, we headed to our hotel, went for dinner, and hit a couple spots before heading back to the hotel for the night (morning?). To top it all off, we brunched at Tavern on the Green to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!
I rounded up what I brought along for this short escapade so I can pack the biggest punch + numerous outfits with the least stuff to bring - I fit everything in my smallest duffle, a Coach Explorer bag. See some of the outfits I planned & my packing list below!
(Pro-tip: commit to your shoes. If you love heels like me, invest in a comfortable pair to go out in because you do not want to be that girl walking barefoot on the streets at 2AM and Googling an urgent care at 8 seeking a tetanus shot. It's not cute. Pinky-promise your heels you will wear them all night or bring along a pair of flip-flops or foldable flats to change into.)
Outfit #1: Into the City + Broadway
We live just a short drive from NYC, so to head into the city I wore snakeskin mule-heels, leather-look leggings by Commando that are equally comfy + cool, and a red sweater from Express. It was an easy outfit that I jazzed up with my DylanLex Ryan. I sported this look for just a few hours, which meant I could plan to re-wear the leggings again the following day. I didn't feel like switching everything into my crossbody bag, so I grabbed my toiletry pouch out of my tote and just carried that. Easy.
Outfit #2: Dinner + Out
You can't go wrong with a classic LBD, but I changed it up a little with a black, wide-leg Norma Kamali jumpsuit for dinner - super easy, super comfy, and still chic. (Plus the obvious perks of a jumpsuit - it's one item of clothing!) I wore the same snakeskin heels I wore to the show and covered up with a leather jacket. We went out right from dinner, so my look needed to easily transition from night to late night. The limo brought us to PS450 for about an hour, then to Hudson Terrace a little later.
Outfit #3: Chill + Bedtime
I don't know if this counts as an outfit, but whatever. At this point it really didn't matter what we were wearing, but I wanted something cute and comfy to chill with the girls. I slipped into the comfiest yoga pants by Fabletics and a comfy Obey tee before crawling under the fluffy hotel bedding for the night.
Outfit #4: Brunch + Driving Home
For brunch, I re-wore the same Commando leggings with a white oversized varsity-style sweater from Express and my Ryan. I debated between sneakers + those heels and landed on the heels, as per usual. I swapped some of my things into my crossbody to carry to brunch. These leggings are actually quite comfortable, so no need to change anything but my footwear for the drive back to Jersey. I reunited with my trusty Spicoli Vans while we waited for the car - then back to reality!
Aside from undies + toiletries + what I wore on the way in, I only had to pack 5 pieces of clothing and one pair of shoes for at least four different looks. I think that was pretty efficient! What would you wear to do all these things out in NYC?
